This week I looked at an article regarding Tim Burton a very acclaimed director, it talks about his childhood and how he was never satisfied during his childhood. This was interesting to me because it shows that to direct it shows passion and dedication and also with driving force. I feel that Tim Burton is successful in being creative and touching audiences hearts because he for fills the gratification of escapism and potentially satisfying other adults that have had less fortunate childhoods. As they can relate to the stories and characters he creates.

Muhammad film: Israeli director goes into hiding after protests
In this article it talks about An Israeli film-maker based in California has gone into hiding after his film attacking the prophet Muhammad sparked angry assaults by ultra-conservative Muslims on US missions in Egypt and Libya, claiming the life of one American. It is a political movie two-hour movie about the Innocence of Muslims. It cost $5m (£3.1m) to make and was financed with the help of more than 100 Jewish donors. The full film had been shown once, to a mostly empty cinema in Hollywood, earlier this year. I felt this article was very interesting as it was only shown once to a empty cinema but was able to provoke such a riot. This shows that films can be powerful, exhibited or not and it can be very sensitive to people.

Independant Research
This week I looked at the website empire online to look atwhat is happening this week in the film industry. The Possession managed to stay atop the US box office, earning $9.5 million. Infront of the Expendables and the Bourne Legacy. I felt this was important because the story of this film has been done many times with a exorcist theme. I felt that even though films have been regurgitated many times it can still be successful because the audience are no longer looking for gripping and unique stories but just want to be entertained. However this can be worrying because the audience are no longer active and it may be that only Hollywood films will be able to make money and independent films will struggle to get an audience.
I also found that Daniel Craig notorious for his role as Bond will return to his part for atleast 2 more titles. This is important because of his appeal to fans and audiences demand to see him as Bond and again the ability of Hollywood productions to draw an audience in through passive entertainment.
